Neon Indian Uses Social Media To Gain Popularity

After recently sitting down with Neon Indian's manager, Danny Carissimi, for an interview, he broke down every social media platform his band uses to gain popularity.

Danny explained that they use Twitter, Myspace, and Facebook all for different things. Twitter is used for them to keep up what fans are saying whether it be about their new single or a show. Myspace is used primarily to showcase their singles. Facebook is used to release to the public all the press.

Neon Indian is now collaborating with other popular artists because Danny noticed that they tweeted about how much they like Neon Indian's music.

I believe that social media is crucial for new artists to use in order to make it in the industry.

Secret Concerts Revealed To Myspace Fans

Myspace is leading the social network music scene with now so many great perks that Facebook cannot rival.

Two weeks ago Weezer held a free secret concert for all their Myspace fans. I think this is an amazing way for Myspace to compete with other social media sites. The secret show was in San Franscisco and about a thousand devoted Weezer fans on Myspace were there.

Myspace's role in social networking has been eclipsed by Facebook and Twitter, but it's role in the music scene is very adamant. Another addition Myspace music has is the video streaming capablities. People will be able to watch streaming video through the partnership of iLike and Myspace, and not have to wait ten minutes for a YouTube video to load all the way to watch it.

Do you think Myspace will prevail as social media for music? Or do you think that Facebook will relsease an application where you can listen to full songs and thus run Myspace out of business?

I think Myspace has a monopoly on the music scene, but other big social media realms will catch up and rival Myspace. To know who will win, no one knows, but for now Myspace is the place to get the greatest music perks.

New Artists Use Youtube To Get Discovered

This is ridiculous. For the past two hours, I have been watching YouTube videos of the music world's newest star, Justin Bieber. He is only 15 years old and his single "One Time" is on the top 10 most downloaded songs on Itunes.

This kid has got so much talent and how was he discovered? YouTube.

YouTube has always been the medium for that funny keyboarding cat video or hilarious homemade animations. Justin Bieber has shown all aspiring musicians that the social media giant, YouTube is a new way they can get their music out to the public. Justin's rise to fame started when his mom started posting videos of him on YouTube to show his extended family and friends. Little did she know that posting these videos would result in a wildfire through the social media world. His videos racked up over 10,000,000 views simply from people commenting and spreading his name through word of mouth.

Justin's hit cover YouTube video of Chris Brown's "With You" has 12,559,672 views as of this moment. Chris Brown has watched the video, and he personally called Justin to tell him that he did an amazing cover. He is now signed with Usher under the Island Records label.

Other artists are seeing Justin's success as a reality now. YouTube is flooded with aspiring artists posting videos; thus, this social media being a primary and important public relations technique.

Check out his videos and songs on YouTube that is what I'll be doing now.

Austin City Limits Gains Thousands of Followers and Friends Within a Few Days

In my previous posts, I spoke of how well Austin City Limits utilized social media outlets to gain a huge following. Sustainability is also a goal of Austin City Limits, and they constantly update their twitter and facebook to keep people in the loop about what new things they have going on.

Recently, Austin City Limits gained thousands of followers and fans. All those people who refused to follow or become a fan of Austin City Limits succumb to the pressure because of the amazing deal. The very popular music festival was selling 3-day passes for next year's festival for only $50! The usual price is at $185, and people usually end up paying $300 once all the passes are sold out. It was such a ridiculous good deal that people were salivating for these passes. The catch was that they were not going to tell anyone when they were going to sell these lucrative passes. They encouraged everyone who was interested to follow them on twitter and facebook to find out exactly when these passes would go on sale. Austin City Limits promised within the next few days the passes would be put on sale.

The response to such a great deal was overwhelming. People were literally on their twitter accounts every second of each of those days to be able to know exactly when the passes were on sale. Every time I try to load their facebook page, it would take for ages because thousands of other people were doing the same thing. The public relations team for Austin City Limits was able to use this incredible deal as a great promoting tool for all their social media outlets. Even though people were not able to get this great deal, they are now hooked to Austin City Limit's social media outlets in hopes that a similar deal will be presented in the future, and they will be the first to know.

I unfortunately did not get a treasured $50 pass, but I will continue to follow them because I know they will do something similar in the future.
